What to expect.

We’re a laid back group of folks, so come as you are. Some of us wear our Sunday best, and some do our best just to get here with the kids in matching shoes.

We have safe areas for kids to learn and play while the adults worship through music, prayer, and Biblical teaching.

Meet our staff.

Barry Crowson, Senior Pastor

Barry has served as the Senior Pastor of Unity since 2008. Before joining Unity, he spent 20 years in student ministry and 5 years in church planting. Barry has a conviction for the church, for the world to know Christ, and to be transformed in such a way that they themselves are involved in the transformation process of others.

He holds a Theology degree from Florida Baptist University and a Master’s in Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX. A Nashville native, he has also lived in Alabama, Florida, and Texas. 

Outside of ministry, he is a National Park geek who enjoys the outdoors with hiking, biking, paddling, and golf.  He is also an avid Tennessee Volunteer fan and enjoys all sports.  Barry and his wife, Angie, have two grown children—Zach (married to Kayla) and Keela (married to Jeremiah)—and a granddaughter, Hayley. Barry is most passionate about his immediate family, and his faith family at Unity.

 

Andy McCorkle, Youth minister

Andy has been serving in youth ministry for over 15 years. After coming to salvation as a teenager—and surrendering to a call into ministry, both at Unity—he developed a passion for seeing students come to know, love, and serve the Lord.

Whether he’s playing games, teaching God’s Word, or helping teens and families follow the Lord, Andy loves Andy loves serving God at Unity!

He’s been married to his wife, Leah, since 2007, and has two daughters, Gracie and Claire.

 

Shelley Burchyett, children’s minister

Shelley has been serving in children’s ministry since 2001 and became Unity’s Children’s Minister in 2024. Her passion for working with children began at age 12 when she helped her mom in Sunday School, and it has grown into a lifelong calling.

Before joining Unity, Shelley served for 15 years as the Children’s Minister at FSBC in Terre Haute, Indiana. She is passionate about helping children know that Jesus loves them just the way they are and wants what’s best for them at all times.

She and her husband, Greg—her high school sweetheart—have two grown sons, one living in Knoxville and the other in Indiana.

 

kevin bowling, music minister

Kevin was called into ministry in 1994 and began serving in youth ministry as a volunteer in 1996. Over the years, he served in several churches as a youth minister before God led him into worship ministry.

Music has always been a passion, and 13 years ago, God turned that passion into a calling when He brought Kevin to Unity.

His greatest joy is pointing people to Jesus.
